Masoom Care Kirklees is a community-led organisation dedicated to improving outcomes for vulnerable individuals and families across Kirklees, with a particular specialism in supporting Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) carers who are often underrepresented and less connected to mainstream support services.
Through extensive community engagement and grassroots work, Masoom Care has identified a significant gap in service access among BAME carers, many of whom experience cultural, linguistic, social, and systemic barriers that reduce engagement with statutory and voluntary sector provision. These barriers can contribute to increased isolation, unmet wellbeing needs, and limited awareness of available support. Masoom Care addresses this disparity by delivering culturally competent, trust-based interventions designed to reduce inequalities and improve access to support networks. The organisation provides safe, inclusive spaces and targeted programmes that promote peer connection, respite opportunities, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. By using culturally sensitive approaches and trusted community relationships, Masoom Care successfully engages individuals who may otherwise remain hidden or disengaged from traditional services.
Working collaboratively with local authorities, health partners, and voluntary sector organisations, Masoom Care strengthens pathways into wider support systems while maintaining a person-centred, trauma-informed approach. Its preventative model focuses on early intervention, reducing escalation of need and supporting carers to maintain resilience, wellbeing, and social connectedness.
